Vitamin Deficiencies and Weight Gain

Vitamin B deficiencies can cause weight gain.

According to research from scientists at the University of Queensland presented in the Journal of Nutrition, certain vitamin deficiencies are linked to weight gain and obesity.

B-Vitamins

The aim of the study was to examine associations between serum vitamin B-12 and folate concentrations, and the intake of B vitamins with body fat.

The study used data on 1131 Mexican American children between 8 and 15 years of age.

The results showed that vitamin B-12,  folate, thiamin, and riboflavin play a role in the risk of childhood obesity.

If these health effects appear at younger ages, they will also affect you at any age; so, make sure that you maintain healthy B-vitamin levels throughout your lifetime, especially during puberty for children and menopause for women.

Bs During Detoxing

Supplement with a B-Complex during detoxing.

The importance of the B-vitamins is one reason I recommend supplementing with a B-Complex during detoxing.

A diet deficient in the B-Complex can be one root cause of health issues, but heavy metals present in your body can also deplete your Bs.

If your Bs aren’t replaced, healing from illness can be slow and ineffective.

There are 11 B-vitamins, and they work best as a team. The Bs are probably some of the most under-publicized of all the vitamins, yet they are essential for the proper functioning of your body.

Now, they appear to play a role in body weight.
