How can nutrition help my ADHD child?

Avoid all chemical foods, processed foods with toxic fillers and food colorings, eliminate sodas, all candy and gums, and unhealthy snacks. Put the child on a balanced diet and a natural source of nutritional supplements and vitamins, and encourage daily exercise and an early bedtime. As toxins are eliminated from the body, a healthy diet and lifestyle can restore health. Chemical foods and medications do not offer a child the fuel required to properly feed their growing bodies. Natural foods, drinking water instead of colas, and eating smaller meals throughout the day can balance your child’s physical needs, which, in turn, release the body from stress. Less stress can make a tremendous difference to a child with ADHD.

If your child says they are hungry – feed them. If they are eating whole foods throughout the day, such as carrots, yogurt, nuts, whole-grain cereals, etc, an ADHD child typically doesn’t have an issue with weight gain. But, high-energy kids typically stay hungry, and behavior generally improves after they are fed.
